#74 Lucky’s Lake Crossing and 1hr stationary bike ride

16 Aug

Just an ok swim this morning due to having to stop while figuring out where I was. Visibility just became a problem with my once reliable Speedo Tri goggles. These goggles are amazing and I will most certainly buy a new pair. I’ve worn them a lot in both open water and pool swims and have worked without fail. I would just throw them in my swim bag and so the lenses began to scratch.

My bike workout consisted of going 80 Cadence hard every 10 minutes.  I want to start experimenting with a bigger gear to see what impact it has on my riding.

I am built a lot like you. I have found that when just riding, a big gear and lower cadence works for me. However, when you have to run off the bike, that big gear mashing will totally kill your legs for the run. I found a nice balance at 85 RPMs, but mix it up every 10 minutes or so to keep the legs fresh. Good Luck.

Thanks John, I’ll try out your suggestion next time I ride! I did notice that my legs were pretty toasty during my run after pushing the bigger gears.
